Essential Guide to Making Baby Food at Home

If you are worried about the rise of toxic heavy metals in baby foods, or just want to see what you can do to prepare homemade baby food for your little one, then you need to know a few things. While homemade baby food isn’t very hard to make yourself, it isn’t as easy as you might think either.

So here are the things that you need to know about making baby food at home, and soon both you and your children will be very happy!

What Tools You Need

First, you need some fresh produce of course. But you also need a pot, a strainer, a rubber spatula, and a blender as well. Additionally, you will need glass containers and freezer trays to freeze baby food that isn’t eaten as well.

Now, you do need a good blender that will work out and you shouldn’t fall into the trap of only getting a baby food blender. You might as well get a good adult blender that will work long after your baby grows out of baby food!

How To Make Baby Food

You need to take whatever produce you are using and wash it. Then peel the produce and cut it into chunks if it is necessary. Once that is done place your produce into the pot and then reserve the cooking liquid while steaming it until it is nice and soft. Once the produce is steamed, transfer the produce into the blender and add a bit of the cooking liquid.

Then blend until the fruits or vegetables are smooth, and add little bits of the cooking liquid until your puree reaches the desired consistency. Once it has, then you can transfer the baby food into the small glass jars to put in the fridge, or in the trays to put into the freezer.

You can customize different flavors for baby foods and make enough to have weeks at a time, and the process is the same no matter what you want to do!

Look For Good Food At The Farmer’s Market

While you might be worried about the food you might get at the grocery store because it could be contaminated with heavy metals, you can find good food at the farmer’s market. The produce is often much fresher and more nutritious than you might find at the supermarket, and you might also find unique ingredients you can put into your baby’s food too.

Be Mindful Of Heavy Metals

Heavy metals in baby food can be found in the food you find in grocery stores. Food can be contaminated by the soil and water they are in, the packaging they get placed into, and other sources.

While you can’t avoid contaminated baby food and contaminated ingredients altogether, you can be mindful of the food labels, and can also speak with an experienced product liability attorney if you suspect your child has been exposed to heavy metals in their food.

Introduce Your Baby To Some Amazing Food!

While you might think that baby food needs to be tasteless mush and needs to be boring for your child, when you are cooking it yourself you will quickly learn to think differently! Don’t be afraid to expand your child’s palate by making different foods, and your baby might find some flavors that they really like and continue to like well into adulthood too!

Making your own baby food can be a rewarding process and it can be very important for your baby’s continued health and wellness as they start to grow up big and strong!
