How to wall mount the TV

The process of mounting a television on your wall is a stressful (and maybe even anxiety-inducing) one. However, it may not be as difficult as you might think. Here is a step-by-step guide that you can follow to mount your TV to the wall (and avoid most of the anxiety). But first, you need to check a few things:

Can your walls hold the Television?

One of the easiest ways to figure out if your walls can hold your television and the mounts are by checking if they have studs. Studs are boards that are put behind your walls to support their frame. They make it easier for hanging things on the wall without causing any damage.

If you have drywalls, it is highly suggested that you don’t wall mount the TV on them. Drywalls cannot hold the weight of a mounted TV and run the risk of getting damaged (and causing damage).

Can you hold the Television?

Before you wall mount the TV, you must figure out how heavy your television is. If it’s heavy, take help from someone to help you pick up the television. However, if you live alone (or have no friends), you can always contact professional TV mounting services. Get a quote from https://aerialandsatelliteexpress.co.uk

What kind of TV mounts do you require?

One of the easiest ways to find the mounts that will fit your TV is by using the VESA standards. These standards are guidelines that measure the patterns of the holes behind your TV and recommend appropriate wall mounts. To measure your VESA dimensions, all you have to do is measure the distance between the holes in mm, horizontally as well as vertically.

Now that you have calculated your VESA dimensions, the next step is to choose the right wall mount. There are two types of wall mounts, the first one is a stationary mount that keeps your TV flat against the wall. It’s super cheap and ideal for tight spaces. The second one has an adjustable swivel which you can use to change the TV’s angles and watch your TV more comfortably. These are usually more expensive than stationary wall mounts.

Now that we have got that out of the way, you can get started to mount your TV.

Step 1: Remove the TV Base

The first step is to remove the base of the TV. This is what makes the TV stand upright when it’s placed on a TV unit or table. The base can be removed easily by using a screwdriver and following the instructions in the TV manual. Keep the screws from the base in case you would need them for future use.

Step 2: Attach the mounts

Make sure that you have gotten the right dimensions of the mounts. Use the mount manual to properly attach the mounts to the TV by using the screws that they came with. The screw holes might have plastic plugs on them, and they are easily removable.

Step 3: Test a template

You can do this by first deciding where you want to wall mount the TV. Now cut a paper the size of your tv and put it up. Check to see that it’s the right height, the right angle and the right place. If satisfied, you can mark the place with painters’ tape (don’t worry, it won’t harm the walls) and remove the paper.

Step 4: Check for wires and pipes in your walls

Here you need to check where the studs are and where the pipes and wires are. You can use a stud finder (they are available in hardware stores as well as on online stores) to do this easily. You can only drill on the areas where there are studs, or you run the risk of damaging a wire or a pipe.

Step 5: Mark the pilot holes

Now position the mount as required on the wall. It’s always good to ensure that the wall mount is attached to the two studs. Position the mounts so that the screws can be fastened right into them. Mark these pilot holes.

Step 6: Drill the pilot holes

Check the manual provided with the wall mounts to find the correct drill size and drill to attach the lag bolts that come with the mount. This step is important. If you try to attach the lag bolts in the studs directly, they can split and break.

Step 7: Attach the wall mount stand

Position and attach the lag bolts and make sure they have been tightened. This is to ensure that your TV stays fixed and in its place.

And that is it. Your TV has been wall mounted. If you want to have a TV aerial for your new television, you can contact us by clicking here.
