As we approach the summer holidays, it has many of us wondering just what we can do with our children. After all, with most schools offering around six weeks off, it’s a long time to keep your little ones entertained. Aside from the act of doing things that are fun, you don’t want to end up spending a fortune as can sometimes happen and instead want other ideas you can do at home and enjoy. To make it that bit easier, we’ve put together some fun activities to do with your kids this summer holiday that shouldn’t break the bank but are guaranteed to make memories that will last for years to come.
Have an arts and crafts day
There are so many things that fall under an arts and crafts day. It could be a good idea to do one every week in the summer holidays – or even more! You can pick up craft supplies such as paints, glue and paper from the shops, or if you want something more specific such as resin and casting materials or clay and sculpting supplies, it’s worth going to dedicated mould suppliers. You can make things such as sculptures of your pet or flowers, or create collages of things you collect on a walk in the forest. You can paint pictures, do drawings and so much more.
Hold an at-home sports day
If you want your children to sleep well at night and have fun during the day, the best way is to get them doing something active. This means they will enjoy themselves and then when bedtime rolls around they should drop off a lot easier. A great activity for this is an at-home sports day. You can have different stations in your garden such as for long jump, running, egg and spoon race and more. You can have certificates printed out for when they win and provide healthy snacks and drinks. Make sure to take lots of photos!
Create a home cinema experience
While the cinema is great fun, it can soon work out very expensive, particularly once you’ve added on snacks and treats after buying the tickets. To keep costs down, avoid having to leave the house and also get creative, why not create a home cinema experience? You could set up the room with lots of cushions and blankets, project a film onto a wall and offer homemade tickets for people to pick up on their way in. Why not throw a movie night each week and take it in turns to pick a film?
These are just a few ideas of things that you can do this summer holiday that your kids are guaranteed to enjoy. No matter if they are young or a bit more grown up, these are activities you can do as a family and will make fun memories together.
