3 Gifts for Your Outdoor-Loving Friend
When it comes to buying gifts for your friends and loved-ones, it can be a tricky feat. To get started, let’s look at their hobbies. Some people enjoy reading, so perhaps a book or a gift card to your local bookshop can be a great gift. Or, if they enjoy fishing, a new lure or tackle box would be just the ticket. Whatever they enjoy, finding something that supports that will always serve as a great gift. And, if it doesn’t… well, make sure to include a gift receipt, just in case!
For your friends or loved ones who enjoy adventuring and braving the outdoors, check out our gift guide for ideas that they’re sure to cherish.
1. Flashlight
A flashlight? Yes, trust us. A flashlight is the most underrated, but useful, tool to carry with you throughout all your adventures. Having LED flashlights handy while you’re out and about, whether on a trail or on a camping site, can be a practical piece of equipment when you’re in quick need of a little illumination.
Picture this: you’re out on a trail and you’ve lost your way back to camp. Luckily, your friends brought along the brightest flashlight they own, boasting 18,000 lumens of light. With this flashlight, you’ll easily be able to light your way back home, or in a worst case scenario, signal your way to help. With that much light, park rangers are bound to find you.
2. Multi-Tool
Be prepared for anything with a practical multi-tool. The possibilities of use for a multi-tool are endless. From the pliers to the bottle opener, these tools come in handy whenever you may need extra assistance. Multi-tools are also great because they’re compact, and you won’t have to carry a bunch of single-use tools around in your pack. Simply fold up the multi-tool and put it in your pocket or hang it from your backpack with a carabiner clip. If you or a loved one is out exploring the world, you’ll be grateful to have packed one.
3. Self-filtering Straw
Sure, we all have water bottles handy, but what if you don’t have access to filtered water? While drinking straight from a stream or river used to be a common thing, you never know what’s in the water you’ll be putting in your body. From parasites to pollution, it’s typically best to err on the side of caution when it comes to your drinking water.
Thanks to modern technology, now we can easily carry our own water filtration system in a convenient little straw. Simply stick the straw in a body of water (we don’t recommend the ocean!) and have a sip of freshly filtered, clean drinking water. A nifty little tool like this can really mean the difference between life and death if you’re caught in the elements without access to drinking water.
Whatever your friend or loved one enjoys doing, whether that’s exploring the outdoors or staying in to knit, finding a gift that supports their interests will always win them over. Doing a little bit of research, or even asking them about supplies or tools they may need, will demonstrate how much you care. And, when it comes to gifts – isn’t it the thought that counts?
