Advice for Brides: 5 Tips for Planning a Perfect Wedding

by Mother Huddle Staff

Engaged? Congratulations! Now comes the stressful part: planning the wedding.

While anticipating nuptials can bring a lot of joy into your life, it’s no secret that it’s also an overwhelming time. Three-quarters of U.S. brides spend at least two hours a week organizing their wedding. Even a smaller celebration can require a lot of work.

You can have a perfect wedding, however, if you plan ahead. Here are five tips to follow so everything goes off without a hitch on the day you get hitched.

1. Start Early

Don’t bask in the glory of showing off your engagement ring for too long. It’s never too early to begin planning for a wedding, even if it’s a couple of years away. Wait too long to choose a reception venue, for example, and you may find the ones within your budget are all booked.

You’ll also be surprised at how quickly your wedding date comes up because of the amount of time you find yourself working on wedding details.

2. Use a Wedding Planning App

Today’s technology is making it easier for brides-to-be to plan their weddings without missing deadlines to book vendors. Take advantage of any of the free wedding apps out there that will help you track your spending, create a wedding countdown to-do list, and save vendors’ contact info.

3. Set a Budget and Stick To It

It’s tempting to go overboard and plan a wedding bash that will wow your guests, but keep in mind that the money is going towards an experience that will be over in a few hours. Set a budget and try to stick to it; the extra money can be used as a down payment towards a new home.

Be open-minded to moves that can save you money, such as renting a barn for your reception instead of a fancy country club ballroom. Consider planning an eco-friendly wedding to help eliminate waste and save money on your wedding favors and other details.

4. Accept Offers of Help

If family members or friends want to lend a helping hand, let them. Even something as simple as allowing someone to contact florists for you or come up with gift ideas for your bridesmaids can free up precious time for you.

5. Make Time For Yourself

Both brides and grooms may find their health gets compromised when planning a wedding. The stress and anxiety can make it difficult to fall asleep and you may catch colds more easily.

That’s why it’s important to take a breather and set aside time for yourself once in a while, without your bridal party and relatives. Meditate, attend a yoga session, or visit a spa for a massage and some pampering.

Eat healthy foods and get enough sleep leading up to the big day. You should also continue to spend quality time with your fiance to enhance your connection during your engagement.

A Perfect Wedding Can Be Yours

A perfect wedding can be yours if you get a jump on planning ahead and keep calm when you encounter glitches. Just stay confident that everything is working out and you’ll have the wedding of your dreams.
