In the beginning, your baby needs love and security above all else. So that you as a family can fully concentrate on the emotional ups and downs of the first few months, it’s best to stock up on basic baby gear before the birth.
With the desire to help you and facilitate the first shopping for a baby, that is why we have prepared a list for the first equipment of the baby with things that will benefit your baby and you.
Baby Stroller
There are many manufacturers and types, and the most practical ones are those that include a car seat for a baby and have a flat position for newborns. It is an additional plus if strollers, like those that can be seen at Little Lou Baby, can later be adapted into strollers for larger babies who can sit. They must have solid rubber, rotating wheels with shock absorbers for easier handling and greater comfort for the baby while driving. An additional convenience is if they have a handle that changes sides, so that depending on the need, the baby looks at you while driving, or vice versa, in front of it. Just keep in mind that a lighter and simply collapsible stroller by UPPAbaby is much more practical for everyday use. It’s up to you to explore what’s offered and make up your mind.
A Baby Bath Tub
A baby bathtub is a must. There are various shapes and sizes. The most practical ones are those that have a built-in “holder,” that is, support for the baby, on which the baby is placed during bathing. Some parents decide on a larger tub or trough and additionally buy a “bath” (support for the baby during bathing) because babies quickly outgrow the smaller models. Some bathtubs have a built-in thermometer that measures the temperature of the bathing water, which is an additional convenience. For safe bathing, not only the bathtub and the temperature of the water are important. And the bath is important and should be free of harmful ingredients.
Flask and Flask Equipment
For milk, you need 4 bottles: two of 60 mL, one of 90 mL, and one of 120 mL, because of the amount of milk that the baby needs increases over time. You also need 1 water bottle. Along with bottles, you also need pacifiers, and silicone and rubber ones are available.
- Bottle washing brush: The round and thick brush behind the rotating handle enables easy, quick, and thorough washing of milk bottles.
- The bottle warmer is a very practical aid. It quickly and easily heats the liquid in the bottle and everything is ready for use in the blink of an eye.
- Bottle Sterilizer: Not a necessity, but certainly practical.
Sleeping Bag
It can be useful, especially later, when the baby becomes more active and agile. It can also serve as a blanket when walking outside on colder days. 1 piece is enough for you, but never buy a sleeping bag that is even one size bigger. In this case, the baby’s head can slip through the neck opening, and the whole baby is inside the bag with the risk of suffocation. Ideally, the baby’s legs should reach 3/4 of the length of the sleeping bag, leaving the bottom quarter free. This provides enough comfort for the baby, but also safety above all.
A Physiological Solution in Ampoules and Nasal Pump
Saline can be extremely useful for cleaning a baby’s nose, as a blocked nose makes feeding difficult and disturbs the baby’s sleep. With the use of a nasal pump/aspirator, you will easily remove dried secretions from the baby’s nose that you have previously softened with saline solution. These pumps/aspirators exist in several forms: with or without a hose, those that work with the use of electricity/batteries, or those with which you extract secretions yourself. Provide yourself with 5-10 ampoules of saline solution and whichever pump/aspirator seems most convenient for you to use.
Baby Changing Pad
A special plasticized base that does not shed liquid can be purchased separately, as a mobile base, or fixed to a children’s chest of drawers with a bathtub. Also, this base can be soft, which folds at the ends and is usually placed on a chest of drawers, or a hard base that can be placed anywhere. In any case, it helps change babies. The good thing about these pads is that they have raised edges that prevent the baby from getting hurt and falling over in the first months of life.
Finally, remember the following. Children grow quickly, and their needs change accordingly, especially during the first year of life. So be moderate and carefully judge what you need, what you could do without, and what you could or will never use.
