Toddlers and Tiaras (2009-2016)
What could be better than watching a bunch of screaming toddlers on your TV compete against one another in beauty pageants? A lot of things really! However, there was always something so engaging about this TLC reality TV series, maybe it was just the drama in general. Although most of these kids were a handful, their mothers appeared to be even more theatrical and insane than their children throughout the pageant process. The best part about this show? It gave us the much-loved Honey Boo Boo, who went on to starring in her own show!
The Inbetweeners (2008-2010)
Take a trip down memory lane for an insight into what high school life was like back in Britain during the 2008 era. Focusing on an unusual group of boys, Will, Simon, Jay, and Neil, the three-season series documents the complexities faced as a high school boy, covering all aspects from the relationship and family dramas, school issues, and more importantly partying and underage drinking. These episodes are guaranteed to have you in fits of laughter, and the best part is, you can still catch episodes on live TV channels.
My Super Sweet Sixteen (2005-2011)
Watching others lead lavish lifestyles is always a popular watch, especially within this TV series from the 2000s. Celebrating the coming-of-age celebrations for showy and spoiled American, Canadian, and sometimes British kids, the show documented their parties, from the planning process to the event itself, including the expensive birthday present or famous performer that arrived at the party too. Hoarders (2009-Present)
If your own life or room is a shambles, make yourself feel slightly better by watching an episode of Hoarders. The show displays real-life people who suffer from obsessive-compulsive disorder, who are living with an excessive amount of clutter and mess in their homes. The show provides the individual with assistance and a clean-up is performed. A very interesting before and after to say the least.
Pimp My Ride (2004-2007)
Thinking back, the car transformations that we viewed on this show were nothing short of over the top and completely wack. The rapper Xzibit hosted the show, selecting a young car owner from an area of Southern California to customize and update their vehicle, or should we say, pimp their ride. At the end of the show, the transformation is revealed. Over the 6 seasons, we witnessed the strangest items placed within and on cars including a chocolate fountain, a fish tank, and even a hot tub! We know, insane!
Punk’d (2003-2007)
As one of the most popular American TV series from the 2000s, we can never forget the humour created from this show starring Ashton Kutcher. He would target celebrities by playing jokes on them, having a hidden camera document the full plan of action, and at the point he realised that the joke was, umm, too much, he would reveal that they had been “Punk’d!” Starring celebs such as Justin Timberlake, Usher, Beyonce, and even Kanye West, Kutcher really did get one-up on so many big names in the industry.
MTV Cribs (2000-Present)
Nowadays, we can depend highly on the internet and social media platforms to view celebrities’ homes, we can even watch interviews as the celeb provides us with a walk-through tour! Back at the beginning of the 2000s however, we had to depend on MTV for this content. With 19 seasons so far, we have had the pleasure of viewing some extravagant properties including documented memorable homes owned by 50 Cent, Mariah Carey, and Richard Branson.
LA Ink (2005-2011)
After leaving the hit show, “Miami Ink” Kat Von D was offered a spin-off show centered around her very own tattoo studio. With staff coming and going, and being fired by Von D herself, some episodes were highly entertaining. However, the aim of the show was tattooing, of course, and individuals came into the shop with a story behind the tattoo that they wanted on their body from one of the shop artists.
Kate Plus 8 (2007-2017)
Who could forget about one of the most popular families on TV series from the 2000s, and no, we are not talking about The Kardashians! No one could forget about them. But if you have forgotten about Jon and Kate Gosselin and their eight kids, then shame on you! The family is comprised of twins, oh, and sextuplets. Yes, you heard that right, six children at once! It follows the family during their day-to-day life as an unusually large group, however, following Jon and Kate’s divorce, the series was renamed “Kate Plus 8” in 2010. From this year onwards, it documents her life as a single mother as Jon didn’t appear too much on the show.
